The Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) has published a draft Corporate Plan (“the Plan”) for the period 2019 to 2021. The Plan is to assist HIQA in fulfilling its fundamental aim to strengthen and add value to health and social care services in Ireland.
The Plan outlines the risks and challenges HIQA is likely to face in the approaching three year period as well as its key strategic objectives and the requirements for success in achieving its goals.
Some of the key objectives listed in the Plan include:
Interestingly, HIQA have also launched a public consultation facility in respect of the draft Plan which encourages input from members of the public and stakeholders. The aim of such a tool is to draw on the experience of stakeholders and significantly, to take account of the views of members of the public who use health and social care services. All submissions received will be reviewed and will assist in respect of informing and finalising the Corporate Plan. Subsequent steps will include the presentation of the final plan to the Minister for Health for his consideration. The Plan will then be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.
