Sinéad has extensive knowledge and experience in advising on all aspects of public, administrative and regulatory law, having practised in this field for over 7 years. Sinéad manages a large team of solicitors and advises public sector clients operating across a range of sectors including health and social care, education, finance and professional services. Sinéad advises those bodies on the discharge of all aspects of their statutory functions, including in respect of registration/licensing, education and competence, investigations/inspections, fitness to practise/professional conduct Inquiries, prosecutions, litigation and corporate governance. Sinéad has also advised statutory regulatory bodies in respect of the implementation of amending legislation and the drafting of codes, procedures and guidelines.

Sinéad is a highly experienced litigator and has vast experience in the defence of statutory appeals and judicial review proceedings at all court levels, including the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Sinéad has managed a number of the landmark cases on behalf of statutory regulators.

Sinéad also advises clients in respect of other statutory applications to the High Court, including emergency suspension applications and enforcement applications and frequently advocates before the Courts.

Experience

Sinéad’s experience includes:

  • Managing the preparation of cases for hearing before fitness to practise and professional conduct committees of statutory regulatory bodies.
  • Regularly advocating before the High Court, Councils and Committees in the context of fitness to practise and professional conduct matters.
  • Providing advice and representation to regulatory bodies in relation to statutory appeals and judicial reviews before the Superior Courts, as well as emergency suspension and enforcement applications.
  • Providing advice and representation to regulatory bodies in relation to the prosecution of statutory offences pursuant to governing legislation.
